Originally educated as a teacher, Frank A. Hazelbaker began his political career by first serving as Clerk of the District Court of Beaverhead Co. Montana. He was a Republican member of the Montana Legislature (President Pro Tempore in 1925 and Senate President in 1929 and 1931). He served as the 11th Lieutenant Governor of Montana under Gov. John E. Erickson. He was Republican candidate for Governor of Montana in 1932 and 1936. In private life he was in the insurance and real estate business.
