Son of Josiah Woodworth and Eunice Mariah Snow. Born in Millcreek twp, Williams Co. Ohio. While in Ohio, he worked in the production of pearl ash (a more refined version of potash). First arriving in Virginia City, Montana in late May, 1865 after a cross country journey of seventy days from Bryan (Williams Co.) Ohio by railroad, stage coach, mule train and pack horse. George arrived in Beaverhead Co. Montana in 1885, where in that year he was one of the trustees of the first school at Wisdom. He was a well known rancher and stock raiser of the Big Hole basin country and at one time owned more than 8,000 acres. In 1888, he was elected a member of the board of county commissioners of Beaverhead County, Montana, serving four years. He served two terms in the Montana Legislature (1903,1904); he was the first to serve from the Big Hole region. He also served as a Justice of the Peace for Beaverhead Co. Montana. He married Florence Emerick, daughter of Adam Emerick and Eveline Tator, on May 1, 1881 in Fulton Co. Ohio.
