THE MURULLA RAILWAY DISASTER
Twenty-seven people lost their lives and 42 injured as a result of a midnight train collision in the Upper Hunter Valley on Sept. 13, 1926 near Murrurundi, New South Wales. Breaking away from a goods train at Murulla, four cars laden with wool dashed backwards down a gradient and crashed into the oncoming north-west mail train from Moree to Sydney. Many of the passengers were children returning to school from holiday. Sometimes referred to as the Blandford railway accident, as the crash occurred before the community of Brandford,in an area bordered by both Brandford and Murulla districts.

Daughter of Edward C. Campbell and Mary A. Campbell.

Married William Henry Wilson in 1917 in New South Wales.

Mother of Ted Wilson.

Lived in Pilliga, New South Wales.

Her name is the primary listing (Wilson, Flora Dundas and 25 others) in the Registers of Coroner's Inquests for the Murulla inquest held on Oct. 4-9, 1926.

BURIAL OF MR. AND MRS. WILSON.
The remains of Mr. and. Mrs W. H. Wilson, of Pilliga, who were killed in the Murulla railway smash, were inter red in the Haydonton cemetery. The Rev. W. J. Powell, vicar of Pilliga, who officiated at the graveside, made feeling reference to both the departed, describing them as excellent residents of the community to which they belonged, splendid workers for their church, and ever ready to take a foremost part in any cause for the betterment of the town and district. It was Mrs Wilson (nee Miss Flora Campbell) who organised "Bush Nursing" in the Pilliga district, which has been most successful. The scene at the graveside, where several relatives of the deceased had assembled, was very touching.
