Professional Basketball Player. Tsioropoulos, born Louis C. Tsioropoulos, played for the NBA's Boston Celtics from 1956 to 1959. He played college basketball at the University of Kentucky under legendary coach Adolph Rupp from 1951 to 1952. Tsioropoulos, who played for Kentucky's 1951 NCAA Championship winning team, could not play his senior season due to a point shaving scandal that made the team forfeit its 1952-1953 season. He played for Kentucky one more season after graduating, helping them to a unbeaten season in 1954. Tsioropoulos was drafted by the Boston Celtics of the NBA in 1953 and was backup small forward for them from 1956 to 1959, helping them win two NBA Championships (1957 and 1959). After basketball, he went into the education field. Tsioropoulos was later honored by the University of Kentucky with his #16 jersey being retired and also being named to the Kentucky Athletics Hall of Fame.
