Richard served in the US Air Force from 1953 to 1961. Education included study at Glendale College, University of Redlands, Pepperdine University and University of Southern California. A business management specialist, he handled concessions contracts for the US National Park Service on the executive level, played senior basketball and hockey in his later years, as well as listened to books on tape. Survivors included: children Lori Ann (Mark) Deakin, Markus Leif (Pam) and Karen Grace (Dan Zimring) Ericson, Kurtis Richard (Jamie) Ericson, and Kristina Ericson; grandchildren Aja Janae & Eric Woodrow Deakin, Thomas & Caroline Waters, Theodore Leif Ericson, and Landon Ericson.
