Robert Evans Tener, a former Lodi resident and well known Pollock Pines, El Dorado County, trucking operator was crushed to death yesterday when his truck loaded with gravel rolled over him.
He was delivering a paving mixture when his truck started to roll. When he attempted to jump onto it to reach the controls, he missed his footing and fell under the wheels.
Tener came to Lodi in 1926 from Alaska. Before the war he was employed by the Pacific Gas and Electric Company for 16 years and the Pollock Ship Yards in Stockton. He was a veteran of World War II and a former member of the Lodi post of Disabled Amercan Veterans.
He was 47 years old and a naive of Virginia. Tener was the first president of the Pollock Pines Rotary Club, and was a scoutmaster of the Pollock Pines Cub Scouts.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Tener of Pollock Pines. He was the brother of Encell Tener, John K. Tener and Mrs. Roberta Stimmel. He was the brother-in-law of Mrs. R.L. Martin of Lodi. He was the step father of Rev. Robert Osborn of San Fernando, California.
Burial in Cherokee Memorial Park.
