Lepscier Sr., John O. Age 86. Beloved husband of 62 years to Rita, nee Rick. Loving father of John O. Lepscier, Jr., Rick (Susan) Lepscier, Steven (Lynn) Lepscier, Joseph Lepscier, Joan (Michael) Jesse, Janice (David) Zweifel and the late Pamela Lepscier. He was the dear grandfather of Vanessa, Elizabeth, Nicole, Shannon, Michael, Ryan, Christine, Zach, Adam and Jessica; great-grandfather to many and fond brother of the late Rita Fettel. John was a World War II Army Veteran and graduate of Loyola University, Chicago. He retired from the Elgin, Joliet and Eastern Railway after 31 years of service. He was a proud, decades-long member of the ACBL, earning life master status in 1991 and continued to enjoy the game up until his recent illness. John has a long history of active involvement in his community including 20 years on the Oak Forest planning commission, several years as a Eucharistic Minister and extensive volunteer work through churches and senior centers. John had a passion for books, travel, cars, history and never ending learning. He carefully considered and enjoyed analyzing any and all viewpoints and perspectives. His clever humor, soft laughter and quiet, gentle demeanor will be greatly missed. Funeral Saturday, January 5th, 10:15 am from the McKenzie Funeral Home, 15618 S. Cicero Ave., Oak Forest to St. Damian Church, 5300 W. 155th St., Oak Forest, Mass 11 am. Interment St. Mary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Memorials to Palos Community Hospice is preferred.
