Webster Massacre Victims
Birth: unknown
Death: Aug. 27, 1839

In 1936, the State of Texas placed a monument to the memory of the victims on the burial site known as the Webster massacre. Between the summer of 1838 and October of 1839, John Webster led a party of thirteen to establish a settlement in West Texas. The members of the party came in conflict with Comanche Indians resulting in all the men being killed, the women and children being captured and ransomed after two years of captivity. (bio by: John "J-Cat" Griffith)
