Fischer, Marie M.

On September 12, 2015, Our Father who art in Heaven came to take our mother, Marie M. Fischer's hand to help her up the Stairway to Heaven.

Marie was born on June 6, 1918, an only child to the late Anton and Ida (Klann) Hastrieter. She grew up on a farm on Morgan Road. Marie attended and graduated from St. Mary's Catholic School and was a life long member of St. Mary's Parish in Clarks Mills and was a member of the Marion Council. She worked on the family farm and on November 12, 1941, married Daniel P. Fischer at St. Mary's Catholic Church. They were married for 65 years until Dan passed away on December 3, 2006.

Together they farmed and raised seven children and later bought a second farm on Morgan Road. Marie and Dan retired when Dan had a stroke which made Marie's full time job to care for him, with family help, so he could stay in their home until he passed away.

Marie achieved the finest accomplishment one can reach in life. She was a great example of a good person and was a very strong lady with a lot of integrity. Marie lived by the Christian rules her parents taught her and followed the teachings of her Catholic religion and held on to her strong faith in God. Her prayer time was included in her every-day life. Marie worked hard and asked for very little. She liked to read and kept journals for years. Marie enjoyed working by Dan's side, raising her family, cooking, gardening, and get-togethers for birthdays and holidays. She was blessed with a good memory.

Survivors include Marie's son: Mike (Sue) Fischer, Cato; five daughters: Charlotte (Anthony J.) Schambureck, Valders; Mary (Joe) Getsfried, Kaukauna; Barb (Gary) Hopfensperger, Wild Rose; Kathy (Paul) Sattler, Maribel; and Sue (Peter) Popp, St. Nazianz; 10 grandchildren: Dean Fischer and Kris Harris; Mark, Dan, Anthony C. Schambureck; Sarah Hadley and Chris Hopfensperger; Steven, Amanda Sattler and Melissa Anderson; 15 great grandchildren: Sydney, Paige, Fischer, Cope, Kaitlin, Colin, Beth, Allurah, Jasmine, Sage, Forest, Colton, Brody, Adele and Daniel; three great great grandchildren: Noralyne, Evangelee, and Stella; also other relatives and friends.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents; mother-in-law and father-in-law; husband: Daniel; son: Paul; many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; nieces, nephews and good neighbors from Morgan Road.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 18, 2015 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Clarks Mills, 15 South County Road J. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Richard Klingeisen with burial to follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Clarks Mills.

The Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home and Crematory, North 11th and St. Clair streets, Manitowoc is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
