Oscar Stricklen, 72, of Southgate, Calif, died Friday (22 Dec 1972) in the Veterans Hospital Southgate, Calif. He was born in Wellston, Ohio, May 3, 1900, son of Joseph and Ollie (Christain) Stricklen. His wife Grace preceded him in death in 1964. He was a former Bicknell resident, where he attended school and played varsity football with Bicknell Bulldogs. He moved to Calif in 1962 following service in the U.S. Navy in World War 1. He was a retired employee of Uniroyal, Southgate, Calif. He was a member of the Bicknell Baptist Church. Surviving are three brothers, William Stricklen Roseville, Mich, Melvin and Gilbert Stricklen Akron, Ohio: four sisters, Mrs. Melvin (Addaway) Brittain, Mrs. Berl (Lorna) Wilkes Vincennes, Mrs. Wilburn (Charlotte) Kelty and Mrs. Coy (Mary) Ingram Waterford, Mich.

Services and burial for Oscar Stricklen, 73, a former B.F. Goodrich employee, will be Wednesday in South Gate, California.
Mr. Stricklen a former Akron resident, died in a South Gate hospital after a short illness.
Born in Wellston, Ohio, he lived in Akron about 40 years before moving to South Gate about 30 years ago.
He worked several years for Goodrich before going to Uniroyal in South Gate and was a Navy Veteran of World War 1.
He leaves brothers, William, of Roseville, Mich, and Gilbert and Melvin, both of Akron, and sisters Mrs. Addaway Brittain and Mrs. Lorna Wilkes, both of Vineennes, Ind.,and Charlotte Kelty and Mrs. Mary Ingram both of Waterford, Mich.

Oscar married, Grace S. (Wine) Ginther on Aug. 21, 1920, in Summit Co. Ohio. They did not have any children.
