" SOUTHLAND SS was a Belgian Ocean Liner of 11,899 grt which was formerly called Vaderland SS. She was owned by Red Star line, but placed under the control of White Star Line in WWI.
In 1917 when on route from Liverpool for Philadelphia she was torpedoed by German submarine U-70 and sunk when 140 miles North West by West of Tory Island."
