Fredrick Marion Higley, 88, of Horton, Kansas, passed away on Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at the Horton Community Hospital. Fred was born on November 18, 1926 in Cummings, Kansas the son of Clarence and Viola Mayfield Higley. Fred served in the U.S. Army. He worked for Coke Cola Bottling Company for several years and then went to work helping area farmers. He enjoyed playing the fiddle, guitar, and Mandolin. Fred was also quite a craftsman. Survivors include three brothers, Donald Higley of Atchison, Kansas, Tom Higley of Bashor, Kansas and Norman Higley of Everest, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Marie Fehr. Private services will be held at a later date.
