Professional Football Coach. Williamson, born Richard Allen Williamson, was a long time coach in the National Football League, both as an assistant and as head coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from 1990 to 1991. He attended the University of Alabama from played wide receiver under the legendary coach Paul "Bear" Bryant. Williamson was the 55th pick in the 1963 American Football League draft, but decided to stay at Alabama as an assistant where he helped them win the National Championship in 1964 and 1965. After stints as an assistant at Arkansas, Alabama, and Memphis, he became an assistant with the National Football League's Kansas City Chiefs where he worked until 1986. In 1987 Williamson went to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and served as offensive coordinator until being named head coach during the 1990 season. He was fired after the 1991 season after a 3-13 record that year. Williamson moved on to both Cincinnati and Carolina as an assistant coach and worked with the Panthers until his retirement in 2010.
