She was born September 6, 1921, in Salisbury, NC, to the late Daniel Erson Arndt and Minnie Hoyle Arndt.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, William G. Barker.
She is survived by her daughter, Latrelle B. Grissom and husband Charles R. Grissom; grandchildren, Jeffrey Barker Motley and fiancee Emily Ostrowski, Jennifer Motley Davis and husband Joseph Davis, Joel Matthew Motley and wife Tamara Motley, Jennifer Phelps Murphy and husband Michael Murphy; six great-grandchildren, Jordan Davis, Ky Motley, Julia Motley, Jillian Davis, Jacob Motley and Jenna Kate Davis.
She was a member of the North Carolina Sorosis and the Ogden Baptist Church. She was also a former member of the Cape Fear Garden Club.
Services will be held at Goodin-Drum Funeral Home at 118 South Carolina Ave., Maiden, NC, on Friday, March 9, 2007. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. and the service at 11 a.m. Interment will be at the Maiden City Cemetery.
