Jack L. Grubbs, Jr., 81, of Tifton passed away Thursday, October 8, 2015, at his residence. His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 12, 2015, at New River Baptist Church in Tifton with Rev. Gerald Purvis officiating. Mr. Grubbs’ son, Brad, will give a eulogy. Mr. Grubbs will be laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday, October 11, 2015, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Mr. Grubbs will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service.

Sonny Johnson, Austin Grubbs, Katie Giroux, Randy Mobley, Nicholas James and Johnny Smith will serve as pallbearers.

Mr. Grubbs, born February 1, 1934 in Doerun was the son of the late Jack Grubbs, Sr. and Osa Irene Giddens Grubbs. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Edna Johnson.

He attended Georgia Tech and served in the United States Navy. Until his retirement, he was employed as an electronics engineer at the Naval Surface Weapons Center in White Oak, Maryland. He was a member of New River Baptist Church in Tifton.

Mr. Grubbs is survived by his wife, Bertha Ann Mashburn Grubbs of Tifton; two daughters, Robin Meadows and Linda Giroux, both of Tifton; one son and daughter-in-law, Brad and Crystal Grubbs of Macon; his grandchildren and their spouses, Nicholas and Chasity James of Elko, Katie Giroux of Tifton, Austin Grubbs and Aiden Grubbs, both of Macon; and one great-grandson, Collin James of Elko.

Flowers will be accepted or memorial gifts may be made to Hospice of Tiftarea, P. O. Box 747, Tifton, GA 31793; or the Alzheimer’s Association, SW GA Office, 225 East Second Street, Tifton, GA 31794.
