Ruth Hawthorne

Tuolumne Rancheria native Ruth Hawthorne, 51, died yesterday in Washington, Arkansas where she had lived for the past 10 years.

Mrs. Hawthorne, a homemaker, attended Arastraville School and Summerville High School.

She was a gospel singer and performed often with her musician husband. She was a member of the Pentecostal Church of God locally and of the Guernsey Baptist Church in Arkansas.

Mrs. Hawthorne is survived by her husband, Doyle of Washington, Arkansas; two sons, Jerry Hawthorne and Osker "Oaktree" Richards III, both of Arkansas; five daughters, Susan Beene and Dianna Hawthorne of Marshall, Texas, Lena Cox and Eva Richards of Arkansas and Wendy Richards of Sonora; two brothers, Russel Hendricks and Florenteen Hendricks, both of the Tuolumne Rancheria; four sisters, Mildred Hawkins, Phyllis Harness and Sharron Hendricks, all of the Tuolumne Rancheria, and Betty Shugart of Modesto, and three grandchildren.

Services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Herndon Chapel in Hope, Arkansas followed by burial in Columbia Cemetery. The Revs. Oliver McAmey and Danny Miller officiated.
