Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 23, 2015 at Resurrection Lutheran Church in St. Joseph for Jerome R. “Jerry” Adolphsen, age 78 of Waite Park formerly of St. Joseph who passed away on Thursday, October 15, 2015 at the St. Cloud Hospital. Pastor Dwaine Bruns will officiate. Private interment will take place at a later date at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis.
Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday at the Daniel Funeral Home, St. Joseph and after 10:00 a.m. on Friday at the church.
Jerry was born December 26, 1936 in South Shore, South Dakota to Otto and Goldie (Kannas) Adolphsen. Jerry served his country in the United States Air Force. He married Joann Chapman in Watertown, South Dakota; she preceded him in death 2007. Jerry married Joan Bestgen on October 3, 2009 at Resurrection Lutheran Church, St. Joseph. He was a member of Resurrection Lutheran Church and the St. Joseph American Legion Post #328.
Survivors include his wife, Joan; son, Tony (Cindi) of Rosemount; grandchildren, Carter and Emily; stepchildren, John (Jami) Bestgen, Amy Parker, Gregg Bestgen all of St. Cloud and Kevin Bestgen of Fort Collins, Colorado; four step grandchildren; sisters, Jeanette Searcy, Darlene Jurgens and Lila Laske; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Joann; daughter, Tammy Grey; son-in-law, Pat Grey; granddaughter, Megan Adolphsen; brothers, Harold, Ivan and Marlin.
Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.
