Messrs. Ludden and Kane were re-elected city policeman, and P. J. Keeler, an officer of old, chosen to preserve peace in the noisy Second ward. J. H. Laverty was elected to succeed Lewis Walters as Overseer of the Poor, and will undoubtedly maintain his former record, as an efficient officer in this capacity.

False Report.
Patrick Luddon, who boards on Fairview street and is employed on this section of the P. & E. railroad, Friday received the sad news of the death by drowning of his sister, which was said to have occurred in the lake at Chicago while the lady was on an excursion steamer. Upon wiring to the mayor of Chicago, Mr. Luddon was informed that there was no truth in the matter, as the lady is alive and well at her residence. This was truly good news to follow such a distressing announcement. The first information came by letter from Pittsburg. The write while meaning to do a kindness or else supposed another person by the same name was the sister of Mr. Luddon.

1896 Nov. 5, Patrick was married to Ellen Kelley at Clinton County, PA by Rev. P. McCarthy. He was 45 years old, she was 25.

Patrick Ludden Dead.
Patrick Ludden, the well known Lock Haven policeman, died at 2:30 Tuesday afternoon in the Lock Haven, hospital, where he had gone several days before the treatment. Little hope was at anytime entertained for his recovery.

The Clinton Democrat, Clinton County, PA, Thur., July 26, 1906.
Oldest Officer Relieved From Duty by Death.
Patrick Ludden's Familiar Figure Will Be Seen No More.
Officer Patrick Ludden is no more, death having removed him from the activities of this life Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, after an unequal battle against disease.
At different periods in recent years, Mrs. Ludden was confined to his home with illness, but he always recovered sufficiently to go on duty again. This time, however, his ailment was more aggravated, and would not respond to treatment. An operation was decided on as the only possible means of saving his life, and he was accordingly taken to the hospital and submitted to the knife, the surgeons draining and removing a large abscess and several gall stones. His condition was found to be such that his recovery from the first was considered doubtful, although far from hopeless. At times he rallied but Tuesday morning he took a turn for the worse and sank rapidly to the end.
Patrick Ludden had the distinction of being the oldest officer on the Lock Haven police force, in point of continuous service, he having patrolled the second ward for a period of about 25 years. He was a popular officer, cool, determined, fearless and could always be found when wanted. By his death the city has lost an efficient guardian, who was esteemed by the citizens generally and feared by evil doers.
Deceased was 52 years, and is survived by his wife and three sisters, Mrs. Mary Blake, Mrs. Maggie Flanigan, and Miss Sarah Ludden, all of this city.
The funeral will occur Friday morning at 9 o'clock from the Church of the Immaculate Conception and burial will be made in St. Mary's cemetery.

The Clinton Democrat, Clinton County, PA, Mon., July 30, 1906.
Three Funerals Friday.
Mourning Relatives and Friends Follow Remains of Loved Ones to the Grave.
Many citizens, including fellow officers and city officials, paid a last tribute of respect to the late Patrick Ludden by being present at the funeral services, which were conducted Friday a.m., beginning at 9 o'clock in the Church of the Immaculate Conception by Rev. J. N. Codori, after which burial was made in St. Mary's cemetery. The casket bearers were Peter Griffin, James McNerney, John McLaughlin, James Caldwell, Robert A. Hays and Patrick King.
Among the many beautiful floral tributes banked about the casket was a large standing anchor composed of pink and white roses and fern, with six inch ribbon containing in raised letters the word, "Mayor and police officers," who sent the design, which was secured through R. H. McGhee.
