Daughter of George & Eva (Martin) Hughes. Graduated from Hinton High School 1927. Married Otto John Meister July 12, 1928. They farmed northeast of Moville, IA for 42 years. When they retired from farming in 1970, they purchased a home in Pierson, IA where they lived until Otto's passing in 1981. Ruth then moved into an apartment in Moville, IA where she lived until December 1998, when she went into the Correctionville nursing home. She enjoyed being a farm wife, raising chickens and selling their eggs, and helping out with a large garden each year. She was active in the Trinity Lutheran Church at Moville, and the Moville Senior Center. Otto & Ruth were the parents of Wilma (Bollin), Darlene (Morey), Verle, Lloyd, & Glenn
