Lorraine Crosby, 86, of Vestal died on Friday, October 23, 2015 at Wilson Memorial Hospital following a series of recent health challenges. After moving to Vestal, Lorraine was employed by Federal Electronics for 27 years where her strong work ethic, leadership and organizational skills quickly led to her promotion as Production Supervisor. Following retirement, Lorraine shared her organizational skills for more many years as a volunteer at the Vestal Public Library, and in many areas of Vestal United Methodist Church, including its United Methodist Women, where she was an active member for nearly 50 years. Lorraine received a United Methodist Women's award for her service and was an integral part of organizing many funeral luncheons. Predeceased by her husband Richard; brothers Russell, Kenneth and David, and sister Joan Reeves; Lorraine is survived by her children: Karen (Richard) Maller and Russell (Carolyn) Johnson of Florida, Robin Shuta (Lance Karplak) of Arizona, and Sharon (Robert) McMeekin of Webster, NY. The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday, October 28 from 4 to 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Vestal United Methodist Church fund, Vestal Public Library or the local American Cancer Society . Special thanks to Lorraine's neighbors (and especially Heather Leach, "her fourth daughter") for their vigilant care which enabled Lorraine to remain in her home.
