Melanie (Cornwell) Solberg, 50, a resident of Cut Bank, was born August 13th 1964 and passed on July 10th 2015 after a long battle with cancer.

Services will be 2:00 pm on Wednesday, July 15 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Cut Bank. Melanie will be laid to rest at the Loring Ranch following the service. There will be a reception for all family and friends at the ranch following the committal service. A second memorial will be held in Glasgow in mid-August, time and date to be announced. Arrangements have been entrusted to Whitted Funeral Chapel in Cut Bank.

Melanie was born to Paul and Gwen (Rogers) Cornwell of Glasgow where she grew up. Melanie graduated from Glasgow in 1982 and spent most of her adult life in the Shelby and Cut Bank communities. Melanie married Howie Solberg in 1983 and they had 3 children. After many years of marriage, Melanie and Howie were divorced, Melanie later met Mike Loring of Cut Bank with whom she spent the rest of her life.

Melanie was a rancher at heart, even during the times of her life when she wasn't working on a ranch. She loved animals and was often called by the neighbors if they needed a Veterinarian and the vet was unavailable (sometimes she was even called first). She had a great love of horses and was around them all her life, including many years of training race horses. She made friends anywhere she went and will be missed greatly. She was also a talented craftsman and seamstress.

Melanie is survived by her children, Tamara Kaye Thompson, Curtis Lyle Solberg (Stephanie), and Jessica Elaine Solberg (Brett Peterson); grandchildren Hadley and Harper Thompson; and a child of Jessica Solberg is expected any day; parents Paul and Gwen (Rogers) Cornwell, sister Carla Tihista (Doug), brother Bob Cornwell (Crystal); nieces and nephews Jeremy (Mary Kate), Jana, and Jake Tihista, Conner and Colter Cornwell, and many extended nieces and nephews. She is also survived by First husband Howie Solberg, Partner Mike Loring and his family: Francy Loring, daughter Katelin Conway (Nolan), their daughters Addison and Deni Conway, and son Jace Loring.
