Marcella R. Hardrath, age 78, formerly of Rockwood, died on Sunday, Oct. 5, 2003 at River’s Bend Health & Rehabilitation Center, Manitowoc.
Funeral services will be held 1 a.m. Friday, Oct. 10, 2003 at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, Pine at North Ninth streets, Manitowoc. The Rev. Loren Lindeman will officiate with burial at Kossuth Evergreen Cemetery, town of Kossuth.
Marcella was born June 18, 1925 at Melnik, Manitowoc County, daughter of the late John and Mary (Doebek) Shimanek. She grew up and was educated at Melnik and attended Lincoln High School. She was employed at Mirro Co. and later at Novy’s Supper Club prior to her retirement. On June 18, 1947, she was married to Elton R. Hardrath at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, Manitowoc, by the Rev. T. F. Uetzman. Elton preceded her in death Feb. 28, 1994. They celebrated more than 46 years together. Marcella was a member of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Marcella loved her family and enjoyed button box, harmonica, piano accordion and organ playing, also cooking, gardening and her flowers.
Her children include: Shirley and Arik Hansen, Two Rivers; Howard Hardrath; Dean and Polly Hardrath and Leroy and Connie Hardrath, all of Manitowoc; grandchildren: Wendy, Chris and Adam Hansen; Kimberly Hardrath; Jackie and Andrew Hardrath; Nick and Erick Hardrath; Ashley and Alisha Phillips; a sister-in-law; Evelyn Shimanek, Manitowoc, as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents and her husband: Elton, she was preceded in death by her brother: Ed Shimanek; and a daughter-in-law: Donna Hardrath.
Relatives and friends may call from 9 to 11 am. Friday at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, Manitowoc.
