George E. Hardrath Sr., 76, of Rt. 2, Manitowoc, died Friday afternoon at Memorial Hospital, Manitowoc, after a lingering illness.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Emanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. T. F. Uetzmann will officiate and burial will be in Kossuth Evergreen Cemetery.

Mr. Hardrath was born Nov. 23, 1883, in the Town of Kossuth, son of the late Fred and Bertha Rabenhorst Hardrath. He married Erna Boettger Oct. 29, 1913, at Manitowoc, and the couple farmed in the township. He attended Rockwood school and First German Evangelical Lutheran School at Manitowoc. He was engaged as a customs thresher in addition to farming.

Surviving are his wife, two sons, George Jr., on the home farm and Elton of Rockwood; a daughter, Mrs. Donald Frenz of Two Rivers; two brothers, Edward and Emil of Manitowoc; four sisters, Mrs. Minnie Miller, Mrs. Emma Luedtke and Mrs. Frank Mrotek of Manitowoc and Miss Esther Hardrath of Milwaukee; and six grandchildren. Four brothers, Henry, William, Karl and John, and a half-sister, Mrs. Rudolph Oestreich, preceded him in death.

Friends may call at Urbanek and Schlei Funeral Home, Manitowoc, after 2 p.m. Sunday until 10:30 a.m. Monday when the casket will be moved to the church where the body will lie in state until the hour of service.
