Francis R. Miller, age 79, of 1124 N. 11th St., Manitowoc, died unexpectedly Friday, December 18, 1998, at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, December 22, 1998, at Immanuel, Ev. Lutheran Church, Manitowoc. Rev. Dennis L. Broehm will officiate with burial at Kossuth Evergreen Cemetery.
Francis was born February 20, 1919, at Two Rivers, son of the late Frank H. and Mathilda Gloe Miller. He grew up and was educated in Two Rivers attending Washington High School, where he graduated with the class of 1937. He was employed at Manitowoc Engineering Co. for many years, retiring February 17, 1984. He was married to Elda M. Rahn November 22, 1941, at First German Ev. Lutheran Church, Manitowoc. They celebrated 57 years of marriage together. A member of Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church and former member of the Senior Choir at church, sang with the Meister Singers and played violin with the Meckelberg Ensemble. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the Army in the European Theater of Operation. Francis enjoyed bowling, hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his wife Elda M.; three daughters and one son-in-law, Marilyn and Donald Nelson, Roswell, N.M., Janet Miller and Eileen Miller, both of Manitowoc; one grandson, Eric Nelson, Dover, N.H. and his fiancée, Amy Vermette, many cousins also survive. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by an infant brother, Edgar.
Relatives and friends may call after 11 a.m. Tuesday at Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church, Manitowoc, until the time of service.
