MARRIAGE: 04 Jun 1906 Triesting, Baden, Niederoesterreich, AUS. Marriage record states spouse's name is Adolf BLOCH, but it was Adolf GRAF. Adolf and Maria had 3 illegitimate children prior to being married. They married just before Adolf GRAF left for America with his cousin Antal KASSANITS.

IMMIGRATION: Maria came to the United States after her husband on 19 Oct 1909 sailing from Bremen to Ellis Island, NY, USA 26 Oct 1909. She traveled with two of her children, Rosa and Louisa, leaving her middle children, Adolf, Jr. and Anna back in Burgenland with her parents, Josef and Maria OSWALD. Maria was going to her husband, Adolf GRAF, in Chicago, IL USA. The manifest states she was 5' 0" tall and had blonde hair and brown eyes. Adolf, Jr. and Anna later came to meet their parents in the US in 1921.

"The four siblings born in Europe, Rose, Anna, Adolf, and Aloisa (Luisa), were baptized in two different churches in Vienna. They have the name "OSWALD" on the baptismal records since their parents did not legally marry until their father left for the USA in 1906 on the steamship "La Bretagne." There was not enough money to bring the other two kids. [Anna] and uncle Adolf did not come to the USA until June of 1921 on board a ship called the Potomac."

FAMILY ACCOUNT: "[Grandmother Maria] ...was a short woman with hair to the ground, she lived with Uncle Herman & Aunt Lou until she passed on, remember before she went to bed she used to brush her hair and braid in a single braid every morning. Grandpa loved his booze and was a very German man, short and stubby with a mustache, talked broken English. Remember going to their house when I was young and sitting on Grandpa Graf's lap, but don't remember much else. Grandma used to bake struedels every Sunday morning, even at Herman & Lou's house." Account of Adolph and Maria's granddaughter, Jo Anne (Graf) Cutrano, circa 2007.
