William W. Lempke, 87, of Marinette, passed away Monday, November 23, 2015, at Bay Area Medical Center. He was born April 12, 1928, in Marinette, to William and Hertha (Priewe) Dumke. William was baptized on May 20, 1928 at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church where he was a lifelong member. Bill resided in the Marinette area all of his life and was a graduate of Marinette High School, Class of 1946. He served his country during the Korean War as a paratrooper in the 11th Airborne Division of the United States Army from 1950-1952. He married the former Victoria Delfosse in 1956. He worked in the logging business for ten years and then started working at Scott Paper Company in 1962 while maintaining a part time job in the woods. He retired from Scott Paper Company in 1984 to resume logging on a full time basis. Working in the forest products industry is where Bill found his greatest fulfillment. He enjoyed being in the woods and had a passion for forest management. He was an avid reader with a particular interest in history and sports. Surviving are his wife, Victoria, with whom he shared 59 years of marriage; two sons: Dale (Mary) Lempke of Rochester, Minn., Wayne (Henrikje) Lempke of Hilpolstein, Germany; two daughters: Cynthia (Al) Walker of Menominee, Mich., Debbie (Phil) Krueger of Waukesha, Wis.; and six grandchildren: Andy (Sara) Lempke, Claire Lempke, Bill Walker, Lindsay Walker, JJ Krueger, Katie Krueger and one great-grandson, Gavin William Lempke. He is further survived by siblings and their families: Mary Hovey, David Dumke, Karen (Rick) Kuran, George (Mary) Dumke, Roy (Holly) Dumke and a brother-in-law, Ken Guillaume. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters: Esther Dumke, Alice Rastall and Joan Guillaume, and brothers-in-law: Ed Hovey and Roger Rastall. The family would like to thank Dr Halaweh and nurse Kate, along with the ER staff at Bay Area Medical Center for their special care. Friends may call at Hansen-Onion-Martell Funeral Home in Marinette, from 4 until 7 p.m. on Monday, November 30, 2015. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, December 1st at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church. The Rev. Jon Tesch and Rev. Frederick Mueller will officiate. Burial with military honors will be in Glenwood Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church are suggested.
