She met her widowed husband, the Reverend Mr. George Milton Parks, in San Diego in 1923-24 while he was minister of education at First Baptist Church in San Diego and she was president of the Baptist Young Peoples Union (BYPU).
They quickly returned to Houston where she brought up his three sons and the three children they had together with the able assistance of her mother, Mrs. Rosa Lee Dunn Burton.
Always active in Baptist churches for her entire life, she was a longtime member of South Main Baptist Church, Houston, Texas for several decades.
