Roy was one of nine children born to Robert N. Buck of Townsend, Norfolk, Ontario, Canada and Armilda (Millie) Raymond [daughter of Joseph L. Raymond and Almina Lavanway).

His father immigrated from Canada to Huron County, Michigan, where he met and married Armilda Raymond on April 28, 1875 at Pipestone, Berrien, Michigan.

As a young man, he and his brother Robert went to Keystone, Crook County, WY and Recluse, Campbell County, WY. There the brothers homesteaded and operated a large cattle ranch. He registered for WWI draft in 1917 at Recluse.

On Aug. 12, 1918, he married Nola Forrest Vickers and they had three sons born in Gillette, Campbell County, WY:
(1) Donald Wallace Buck - born 9-20-1919 and (2) Kenneth Buck - born August 9, 1921 (died June 25, 1923 at Recluse, WY) and (3) Merlyn Dale Buck - born 1-14-1924.

His wife, Nola Forrest Buck died on June 27, 1942 at Los Angeles, CA. She is buried in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Glendale, CA.

On April 14, 1945 he married his second wife, Mellie Gladys Kissee at Bozeman, MT. They resided in Billings, MT.

He was a successful and well respected building contractor of apartment buildings in Billings.

He died September, 1974.
