Melvin J. Brockhoff, age 67, of 7710 Stone Road, Manitowoc, died unexpectedly Wednesday afternoon, December 17, 1997, at his home.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 20, 1997, St. Anne Catholic Church, Francis Creek. Rev. Theodore Hendricks will officiate with burial to follow at St. Anne Cemetery.
He was born October 19, 1930, at Manitowoc, son of the late Paul and Anna Weina Brockhoff. Melvin grew up in rural Francis Creek area attending St. Anne Catholic School. He was married to Janet Hutterer on October 3, 1953, at St. Anne Catholic Church, Francis Creek. He worked for Whitehouse Milk Company, Manitowoc, for 23 years. He and his wife also farmed in the Francis Creek area until retiring in 1992. Melvin enjoyed traveling and farming. He is a member of St. Anne Catholic Church and a member of the Catholic Knights Branch 86 of Francis Creek.
Survivors include his wife, Janet; one son, Michael Brockhoff, Francis Creek; three daughters and sons-in-law, Janelle and Thomas Ray, Mishicot, Cheryl and Dean Benthien, Mishicot, Ann and Kevin Gretz, Benton, Ark.; five grandchildren, Brian and Paul Ray, Dayna, Tamara and Brandon Gretz; three brothers and one sister-in-law, Joseph and Violet Brockhoff, Manitowoc, Robert Brockhoff, Brown Deer, Wis., Paul Brockhoff, Las Vegas, Nev.; four sisters, Dorothy Novak, Maribel, Sr., Veronica, Holy Family Convent, Manitowoc, Audrey and Joseph Samz, Mishicot, Annette and William Samz, Mishicot; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Anna and John Hutterer, Francis Creek; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Kenneth and Joyce Hutterer, Francis Creek, John and Joan Hutterer, Francis Creek, Irene and Robert Novak, Two Rivers, Ralph Brachmann, Manitowoc; also surviving are aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Anna Brockhoff; three sisters, Grace Brockhoff, Marjorie Brockhoff and Arlene Brachmann; two brothers-in-law, Joe Novak, and Ray Ziarnik; one nephew, Steve Hutterer; one niece, JoAnn Hodas.
