(1924 - 2013)

John Bitto, age 89, a resident of the Artisan Assisted Living Facility, 1480 N. 7th. St., Manitowoc, entered into eternal rest Monday morning, July 1, 2013.

John was born April 17, 1924, in Godre, Hungary, to the late Josef and Barbara Majer Bitto. He married the former Barbara Schaff May 29, 1948 in Germany. She preceded him in death February 22, 2012. John owned and operated several business in his working career, and later worked for the Mirro Corporation, and retired from there in 1989. He was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church in Francis Creek. John enjoyed woodworking, hunting, traveling, and camping.

He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Mary and Dennis Blanchard, of Two Rivers; Dennis Ruttner Sr., of Maribel; Johanna Chaloupka, of Two Rivers; one son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Bonny Bitto, of Two Rivers; 13 grandchildren, Daniel Blanchard, Jeanine (Jason) Hetue, Jeffrey Blanchard, Michael Blanchard, and his fiancee, Rose, Jonathan Blanchard, Todd (Jennifer) Chaloupka, Jason (Mary) Chaloupka, Cheryl St. Peter, Sandra Ruttner, Dennis Ruttner Jr., Constance Ruttner, Benjamin Bitto, Bryan Bitto; 24 great-grandchildren; one sister: Agnes Haberstroh, of CA; one brother-in-law, two sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents, and his wife, he was also preceded in death by a daughter, Theresa Ruttner; a son-in-law, Terry Chaloupka; a brother-in-law, John Haberstroh; and by his granddaughter Cheryl's husband, Steven St. Peter.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 5, 2013, at St. Anne Catholic Church in Francis Creek, with the Reverend John Becker officiating, with burial to follow in the parish cemetery. Relatives and friends may call after 9 a.m. on Friday at the church, until the time of service at 11 a.m.

There will be no Thursday evening visitation.

The Bitto family would like to express a very special thank you to the entire staff of the Artisan Assisted Living Facility of Manitowoc and Home Care Hospice for the love, and special care given to John during his residency there. Your kindness will always be remembered.

The Lambert-Eckert Funeral Home of Mishicot is assisting the Bitto Family with funeral arrangements.
