(1926 - 2012)

Barbara Bitto, age 85, formerly of 1521 Bitto Lane, Two Rivers, entered into eternal life Wednesday February 22, 2012, at the Walnut Grove Assisted Living Facility in Manitowoc.

Barbara was born November 14, 1926 in Hungary to the late Martin and Theresia Till Schaff. She married John Bitto May 29, 1948, in Germany. In addition to being an excellent homemaker, she along with her husband owned and operated a grocery store, motel, and a bar-restaurant. Barbara was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church in Francis Creek. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, sewing, traveling overseas and in the US. Her greatest joy was caring for her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Barbara is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, John; two daughters and one son-in-law: Mary and Dennis Blanchard, of Two Rivers, Johanna Chaloupka, of Two Rivers; one son and daughter-in-law: Joe and Bonny Bitto, of Two Rivers; 13 grandchildren: Daniel Blanchard, Jeanine (Jason) Hetue, Jeffrey Blanchard, Michael Blanchard, Jonathan Blanchard, Todd (Jennifer) Chaloupka, Jason (Mary) Chaloupka, Cheryl (Steve) St. Peter, Sandra Ruttner, Dennis Ruttner Jr. and his special friend, Mary, Constance Ruttner, Benjamin Bitto, Bryan Bitto; 24 great-grandchildren. She is further survived by a sister and brother-in-law: Theresia (Horst) Schlehuber, of Germany; a son-in-law: Dennis Ruttner Sr., of Maribel; two sisters-in-law: Mary Schaff, of Germany, Agnes (John) Haberstroh, of Chilton, WI; nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by one daughter: Theresa Ruttner; a son-in-law: Terry Chaloupka; and a brother: Martin Shaff.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, February 27, 2012, at St. Anne Catholic Church in Francis Creek, with the Reverend John Becker officiating, with burial to follow in the parish cemetery. Relatives and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m., Sunday, at the Lambert-Eckert Funeral Home in Mishicot. There will be a 6:30 p.m. parish wake service at the funeral home Sunday evening. Visitation will continue after 10 a.m., Monday, at the church, until the time of service at 11 a.m.

The Bitto family would like to express a very special thank you to the entire staff of Walnut Grove Assisted Living Facility, and to the Home Care Hospice for all the love, care, and special concerns shown to Barbara and our family during her illness. Your kindness will always be remembered.
