Francis Creek Pioneer To Be Buried On Saturday


Mrs. Mary Blimel, Francis Creek, widow of the late Frank Blimel Sr., died Tuesday. She was 93.

Since the death of her husband Mrs. Blimel had been making her residence on the homestead farm now operated by her son Frank Jr. Infirmities of old age was the cause of her death.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 9:30 a.m. from the home and at 10 a.m. from the St. Ann's Catholic church in Francis Creek with interment in the adjoining cemetery.

Born Mary Pankratz in Germany 93 years ago, the deceased came to America with her parents at the age of 14. The family settled in the town of Kossuth. There 73 years ago she married Frank Blimel and they took up their home on the present homestead farm, now operated by the only son. The husband died 19 years ago.

Survivors are the son Frank Jr., a daughter Mrs. Frank Hessel of Francis Creek, 17 grand children and 30 great grandchildren.

Mrs. Blimel was a member of St. Ann's society of the Francis Creek congregation.

Illness Halts Celebration
Frank Blinnel and Wife, Kossuth, Wedded 50 Years Ago


Illness interfered with the celebration planned in honor of the fiftieth wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Blinnel of Kossuth today and the plans for the day may be carried out later though a number of the invited guests, not advised of the situation journeyed to the Blinnel home today, including a number from the city.

Mr. and Mrs. Blinnel planned to entertain at a reception and dinner today. Married in the county a half century ago, Mr. Blinnel and his aged wife have resided on a farm in Kossuth during all their married life and are well and favorably known throughout the county. They planned to observe the golden wedding today but illness of some of their grandchildren interfered with the celebration.

Kossuth celebrated its third golden wedding since January when Mr. and Mrs. Frank Blimel, pioneer settlers at Francis Creek, entertained a large gathering of relatives and friends Monday, the affair being a most happy one. The anniversary occurred some time ago but the celebration had to be postponed because of illness in the family and was held this week. The couple are among the best known residents of the county.
