Anna M. (Kowny) Cimijotti

RENO, Nev. — Anna M. Cimijotti, 90, of Reno, Nev., died April 28, 2006, following a brief illness.

Anna was born on July 31, 1915, in Omrod, Pa., the daughter of Theodore and Tessie (Szczerbata) Kowny. She was a first generation American. She was raised in Mason City where she met and married her husband, Frank J. Cimijotti, in 1935. They moved to Reno in 1948, where Anna worked as a checker with Sewell’s Markets until her retirement in 1965. Anna was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas parish and long-time member of St. Thomas Aquinas Alter Society. She was a volunteer at Senior Services and St. Vincent’s Thrift Shop and the longest serving active member of St. Mary’s Hospital volunteers, serving more than 40 years with more than 8,000 hours of volunteer services.

Anna was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; sister, Nellie Belseth; and brothers, Stephen Kowny and Michael Kowny.

She is survived by her daughter, Margaret Walsh, of Fayetteville, Ark.; and two sons, Arthur Cimijotti of Chandler, Ariz., and Patrick Cimijotti of Reno; one sister, Julia Bysong, of Durand, Wis.; granddaughter, Annie Hoke; great-granddaughter, Libby Hoke, of Pensacola, Fla.; sister-in-law, Winona Kowny, Mason City, numerous nieces and nephews of several generations. Anna is the beloved mother-in-law of Gerald Walsh and Debbie Cimijotti and grandmother-in-law of Timothy Hoke.

Anna M. Cimijotti was laid to rest on Wednesday, May 3, 2006, at Our Mother of Sorrows in Reno, Nev.
