LEO DELSMANN
(1890 - 1910)

The angel of death called at the home of Bernard Delsman(sic) and took from them their twenty-one-year-old son, Leo.

Leo Delsman was born in 1890, attended the parochial school here until he was twelve years old and after that the public school during a few winters.

At the age of eighteen he left home and went to Mount Vernon, Ill., to help his grandfather, Mr. Peter Greece, on the farm. After he had been in Mount Vernon about a year he began to complain of pain in the side of his leg, a little below the hip joint. Nothing was thot (sic) of this at first until it became serious and he was no longer able to leave the house. Hearing this, the parents were greatly shocked and Mr. Delsman set out at once to bring his sick son back.

At Manitowoc the doctors who attended the boy said that he had tuberculosis of the bone and that he was already too weak to be operated. This was a year ago last December. He was given up by the doctors and was taken home where death was expected in a month or two.

Spring came, then summer, then autumn and winter passed away and still the sufferer lingered. Last fall he was taken to Green Bay where another attempt was made to affect a cure, but all in vain, and he was again taken home to die.

A large circle of friends, by all of whom he was beloved, mourn his untimely death. The funeral will be held Monday with interment in the Catholic cemetery at Francis Creek.
