Marcella A. Dirkman, age 84, formerly of Francis Creek, died Sunday morning, April 10, 2011, at St. Mary's at Felician Village.

Marcella was born on November 13, 1926, in the town of Kossuth, daughter of the late Frank and Emma (Hassemer) Kerscher. On September 8, 1948, Marcella was married to Leo V. Dirkman at St. Anne Catholic Church in Francis Creek. He preceded her in death on November 4, 2009. In the past, Marcella worked as a waitress and cook at Drees Restaurant and later at Lorenz's Restaurant in Francis Creek. She enjoyed flower gardening. She was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church, St. Anne Altar Society, Francis Creek-Rockwood Senior Citizens, Kubale-O'Connell VFW Post #6179 Auxiliary of Kellnersville.

Survivors include her two sons and daughters-in-law: Bob (Anne) Dirkman, Francis Creek; Mike (Pat) Dirkman, Whitelaw; three grandchildren: Kelly and Jesse Dirkman; Nathan (Kathe) Dirkman; three great grandchildren: Korbin Feudner; Linus and Eli Dirkman; two sisters: Marian Porubcansky, Francis Creek; June Freimuth, Kellnersville; three sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law: Dorothy Wachholz, Manitowoc; Delores "Sunny" Dirkman, Green Bay; Marjorie (Robert) Clingan, Northbrook, Ill; Leonard Schleis, Menchalville. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends survive. She was preceded in death by her parents: Frank and Emma Kerscher; her husband: Leo V. Dirkman; one sister: Sylvia Balzenthal; one sister-in-law: Luella "Lolly" Schleis; four brothers-in-law: Albert Balzenthal; Joe Porubcansky; Norman Wachholz; and Paul Freimuth.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 14, 2011, at St. Anne Catholic Church in Francis Creek. Rev. Gerald Foley will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial with burial in the parish cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the Reinbold & Pfeffer Family Funeral of Kellnersville on Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Thursday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass at 11:00 a.m. There will be a VFW Auxiliary service on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m.

Marcella's family would like to thank the staff at St. Mary's at Felician Village, especially Mary G. and Holy Family Memorial Hospice for all the kind and compassionate care given to their mother.

Marcella A. Dirkman, age 84, formerly of Francis Creek, died Sunday morning, April 10, 2011, at St. Mary's at Felician Village.
