Alex J. Fischer, 63, of Route 2, Manitowoc, died unexpectedly Tuesday morning, March 8, at his residence.

Funeral services will be 10:15 a.m. Friday at Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc and 11 a.m. at St. Anne Catholic Church, Francis Creek. The Rev. James P. Massart will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial and burial will be in St. Anne Church Cemetery, Francis Creek.

Mr. Fischer was born Oct. 28, 1909, at Manitowoc Rapids, Manitowoc County, son of the late Alex and Catherine Zipperer Fischer, Sr. He married Mabel Schisel Sept. 1, 1937, at St. Michael Catholic Church, Whitelaw. He was employed at Manitowoc Shipbuilding Inc., retiring in 1974.

Survivors include his wife, Mabel; two daughters and a son-in-law, Maryanne and Dale Koeser of Manitowoc, and Virginia Melnarik of Los Angeles, Calif., and eight grandchildren, Myron, Kim, Cindy, Brenda, Jay, Kandy, Tim and Chet. He was preceded in death by two brothers, John and William Fischer.

Friends may call at Pfeffer Funeral Home from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday where a prayer service will be held at 730 p.m.
