Mabel C. Fischer, age 90, a resident of the Manitowoc Health Care Center, died Tuesday morning, Jan. 24, 2006, at the center.

She was born Nov. 10, 1915 in Whitelaw, daughter of the late Ferdinand and Mary Reindl Schisel. On Sept. 1, 1937, she married Alex Fischer Jr. at St. Michael Catholic Church, Whitelaw. He preceded her in death March 8, 1983. After her retirement from Mirro Aluminum Company, Mabel was the cook for the Hillcrest Dude Ranch Summer Program until 2000. She also enjoyed wood crafts which she sold out of her home and at many craft shows. She was a member of the Rockwood and Francis Creek Senior Citizens and St. Anne Altar Society.

Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law: Virginia Melnarik, Big Bear Lake, Calif.; Maryann and Dale Collin, New Holstein; four granddaughters: Cindy Espino, Calif.; Kim Koeser, Kandy and Brian Gosz, Brenda Koeser and Randy Porubcansky, all of Francis Creek; four grandsons: Myron, Chet, Tim and Jay Melnarik, all of California; three great-granddaughters: Pricilla Espino, California; Kayla Gosz, Francis Creek; Shiloh Jo Porubcansky, Francis Creek; four great-grandsons: Lane Gosz, Francis Creek; Jimmie Melnarik, David Melnarik, Tony Espino, all of California; two sisters: Dorothy Augustine, formerly of Mishicot; Marion Mull, Two Rivers; and a brother: Orie Schisel, Cato. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive.

She was also preceded in death by four brothers: Clarence, Alvin, Donald and Herbert Schisel; and two sisters: Marjorie Kaminski and Regina Schisel.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 27, 2006, at St. Anne Catholic Church, Francis Creek. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Paul Paider with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

Friends may call at St. Anne Catholic Church, Francis Creek, from 9:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 27, 2006, until the time of service at 11 a.m. The Pfeffer Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Manitowoc, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.

The family would like to express a special thank to the staff at the Manitowoc Health Care Center for the wonderful care extended to Mabel during her stay.
