ANTON GRUBER

Anton Gruber, 74, of Rt. 2, Manitowoc, died Wednesday at home of an apparent heart attack.
Funeral services will be at 11 am Saturday at Saur Funeral Home, Kellnersville and at 11:30 am at St. Anne Catholic Church, Francis Creek. The Rev. John Haen will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery. Military graveside rites will be by Drews-Bleser American Legion Post No. 88, Manitowoc.
Mr. Gruber was born May 27, 1892 in the Town of Kossuth, son of the late Carl and Mary Korba Gruber. HE entered the U.S. Army July 5, 1918 and was stationed at Camp Hancock, Augusta, Ga., as a company mechanic and was discharged Jan. 8, 1919. He married Anna Augustine Oct. 2, 1929 at Francis Creek and the couple farmed the Gruber homestead since 1930. He also was a carpenter for 20 years. He was a member of the Drews-Bleser Legion Post and the Holy Name Society.
He is survived by his wife; three sons, Paul of Rt. 2, Manitowoc, Michael of Albuquerque, N.M., and Norbert of Francis Creek; a brother, Joseph of Manitowoc; two sisters, Miss Marie Gruber and Mrs. Florence Pautz of Manitowoc; six grandchildren. A sister preceded him in death.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 pm Friday where at 8:30 pm the Holy Name Society members and the parish will have a vigil.
