Russell J. Halverson, 75, of 2211 Berringer Road, Manitowoc, Wis., died early Saturday morning, May 4, as a result of pneumonia at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 6, 10 a.m. at Saur Funeral Home, Kellnersville, 10:30 a.m. at St. Anne's Catholic Church at Francis Creek. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Donald Schneider. Burial will follow at St. Anne Cemetery. There will be military rites accorded by V.F.W. Otto Oas Post No. 659.

He was born April 25, 1916, in township of Manitowoc Rapids, son of the late Anton and Bernice Cutley Halverson. He grew up and was educated in the township of Manitowoc Rapids, attending Lincoln High School and the Vocational Trade School in Manitowoc. During World War II he served with the U.S. Army in the South Pacific for 47 months. He worked at the Aluminum Specialty Company in Manitowoc for many years, retiring in 1972, as a result of a stroke. He was married to Alice K. Kliment on September 7, 1946, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Manitowoc. He was a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church, Francis Creek, V.F.W. Otto Oas Post No. 659 of Manitowoc, an also served as past Commander of the Post.

Survivors include his wife, Alice; one son and daughter-in-law, John J. and Cynthia Halverson of Two Rivers, Wis.; one daughter, Mary Wood of Kenosha, Wis., and her fiancé, William Poitra; one brother and two sisters-in-law, Orrin and Evelyn Halverson of Waupaca, Wis., Eleanor Halverson of Manitowoc four grandchildren, Jessica and Roberta LeCaptain, Heather Halverson and Scott LeCoque; also nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by three sisters and two brother all of Manitowoc.

Friends may all at the Saur Funeral Home, Kellnersville, from 4-8 p.m. Sunday. There will be a parish prayer service at 7:30 p.m.
