Alice K. Halverson, age 84, of 1325 North Eighth St., Manitowoc, died Saturday, Feb. 21, 2004 at St. Mary's Home, Manitowoc.

Alice was born March 31, 1919 in the Town of Gibson, Manitowoc County, daughter of the late Joseph and Ottillia Novy Kliment. She grew up and was educated in the Town of Gibson and attended Mishicot High School and graduated from Manitowoc Vocational School as a beautician. Alice was employed as a beautician and later worked at Dow Canvas Co. On Aug. 7, 1946, she married Russell J. Halverson at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Russell preceded her in death May 4, 1991. Alice was a member of Sacred Heart Parish, the Rosary Society and a former member of St. Anne's Altar Society, past president of the V. F. W. Otto Oas Post #659 Auxiliary, and volunteered at St. Vincent De Paul Society. She enjoyed baking, bowling, and volunteering.

Alice is survived by twin children: John J. (Jean) Halverson, Manitowoc; Mary (Bill) Poitra, Belcourt, N.D.; five grandchildren: Heather (Buck) Hein, Union Grove; Jessica LeCaptain, Manitowoc; and Bobbi LeCaptain, Kellnersville, and special friend Scott Totten; Aaron Szalewski, Manitowoc; Christa Szalewski, Manitowoc; three great-grandchildren: Sean Heim, Dakota LeCaptain and Gavin Totten; a brother: Joseph (Janet) Kliment, Manitowoc; a sister: Marcella Trost, Town of Gibson, brother-in-law: Orrin (Ev) Halverson, Waupaca, and a special friend Don Gauthier, Manitowoc: nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents and husband Russell, she was preceded in death by her first husband: Ernest Klenke in April, 1943 and by two brothers: Alvin and Ervin Kliment and a sister: Ann Swetlik.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 26, 2004 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 702 State St., Manitowoc. Rev. Dave Hoffman will officiate with burial at St. Anne Cemetery, Francis Creek.

Relatives and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at Reinbold & Pfeffer Family Funeral Home, 818 State St., Manitowoc and on Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church from 9 a.m. to the time of service at 10 a.m. A Prayer Service will be held Wednesday evening at 7:30 p.m. led by Sister Michael Majeskie.
