Mrs. Orval (Sylvia) Hessel, age 90, formerly of 213 Packer Dr., Francis Creek, died Friday evening, December 11, 1998, at Rivers Bend Health & Rehabilitation Center, Manitowoc.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, December 14, 1998, at St. Anne Catholic Church, Francis Creek. Rev. Theodore Hendricks will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

The former Sylvia Stedl was born June 21, 1908, in the town of Franklin, daughter of the late George and Josephine Dvorak Stedl. She attended St. Joseph Grade School in Kellnersville. On June 18, 1934, she was married to Orval Hessel, at St. Joseph Church, Kellnersville. After their marriage, the couple farmed in the town of Kossuth until there moving to the village of Francis Creek in 1973. Sylvia enjoyed baking, gardening and card playing. She was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church, St. Anne Altar Society, and the Rockwood-Francis Creek Senior Citizens.

Survivors include her husband, Orval, Francis Creek; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Robert and Irene Hessel, Francis Creek, Gary Hessel, Francis Creek; four grandchildren, Laura and Steve Braun, Manitowoc, Susan and Paul Wilberding, Sun Prairie, Victoria Hessel, Two Rivers, and her fiancé Ronald Bauer, Robert and Karie Hessel, Two Rivers; two great-grandchildren, Eric and Joshua Wilberding, Sun Prairie; three sisters-in-law, Margaret Stedl, Manitowoc, Verna Stedl, Greenleaf, Marie Pontzlaff, Greenleaf. She was preceded in death by six brothers and three sisters.

Relatives and friends may call at St. Anne Catholic Church, Francis Creek on Monday, from 9 a.m. until the time of services at 10:30 a.m. Reinbold and Pfeffer Family Funeral Services, Kellnersville, is serving the family.
