JOHN KETTNER
(1916 - 2010)

John C. Kettner, age 94, a resident at St Mary's Home at Felician Village, Manitowoc, entered eternal life Monday evening, April 12, 2010, at St. Mary's Home.

John was born Jan. 29, 1916, in the town of Kossuth, Manitowoc County. He was the son of the late Anton and Frances Dufek Kettner. John was employed by the Manitowoc County Highway Department for 28 years, from where he retired in 1979. He married Agnes Kerscher in 1938 at Francis Creek, Wis. She preceded him in death in 1950. On July 9, 1966, he married Luella Casper Leuman in Oconto, Wis. She preceded him in death on Nov. 24, 2009. John was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church and the Manitowoc Senior Center. John was a longtime volunteer for the local chapter of the American Red Cross and also was a driver for the Meals on Wheels program.

He is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law: Richard and Kathy Kettner, Manitowoc; Daniel and Darlene Kettner, Manitowoc; Robert and Jean Kettner, Cadillac, Mich.; one step-daughter: Sharon (Frank) Bender, Manitowoc; seven grandchildren: Robin (Mark) DeZeeuw; David (Sherrie) Kettner; Doreen (Bill) Swiekatowski; Deanna (Jack) Youngchild; Dawn (Dan) Redwine; Mark (Rebecca) Kettner; Melissa (Geoff) Goodrich; 13 great-grandchildren: Logan and Lance Kettner; Trent and Kylie Swiekatowski; Britney, Zachary and Courtney Youngchild; Sydney and Lila Redwine; Grayson and Jasper Kettner; Ian and Elliot Goodrich; nieces, nephews along with other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his first wife: Agnes in 1950; his second wife: Luella in 2009; one brother: Joseph Kettner; one sister: Eleanor Zeman.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. on Friday, April 16, 2010, at St. Francis of Assisi on Waldo. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Daniel Felton. Burial will take place at St. Anne Catholic Cemetery, Francis Creek. Relatives and friends may call at St. Francis of Assisi on Waldo on Friday, April 16, 2010, from 8:30 a.m. until the time of services at 10 a.m.

The family would like to extend their thanks and appreciation to the staff at St. Mary's Home Tower 2 for their kindness and care provided to our father, John.

The Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home and Crematory, N. 11th and St. Clare streets, Manitowoc, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
