Donald J. Kleman, age 73, of the village of Rockwood, Manitowoc County, died on Sunday, May 13, 2001 at Attic Angel Place in Madison, Wisconsin, following a long illness.

Donald was born on November 22, 1927, in the village of Rockwood, the son of William and Rose (Christoff) Kleman. He attended schools in Rockwood, Francis Creek and Manitowoc, graduating from Lincoln High School in 1945. Following graduation he worked at the Aluminum Specialty Company and also continued his education at the University of Wisconsin Extension in Manitowoc and at Manitowoc County Normal Teachers College, graduating in 1951. He entered the Army in 1951 and served in the 1st Cavalry Division in Korea until 1953. After service he worked at the Holiday House in Manitowoc until 1996, when he retired due to poor health.

He is survived by his sister, Olive (Earl) Riederer; a niece, Ann (Doug) Dier; nephews, Fred (Jan) Riederer, Mark (Stephanie) Riederer, William (Michelle) Riederer, and James (Patricia) Riederer; grand-nieces, Angela and Lillian Riederer; and grand-nephews, Andrew, Joseph and Joshua Riederer, and Michael Dier. Donald was preceded in death by his parents; a sister and brother-in-law, Delores and Francis Liebergen; and an infant brother.

His generosity and helpful service to others will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 16, 2001, at ST. ANNE CATHOLIC CHURCH in Francis Creek, with Father Theodore Hendricks officiating. Burial will follow in St. Anne's Cemetery. Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.

The family wishes to thank the nurses, CNAs and staff who cared for Donald at Attic Angel Place.
