Loretta A. Kochan, age 90, of Parkview Haven Apartments, 1325 N. Eighth St., Manitowoc, died peacefully Thursday afternoon, Sept. 23, 2004 at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday (TODAY), Sept. 25, 2004 at Holy Innocents Catholic Church, 1121 N. 14th St., Manitowoc. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Gerald Foley with burial to follow at St. Anne's Catholic Cemetery, Francis Creek.

Loretta was born Dec. 25, 1913 in New York City, N.Y., and was adopted by the late Henry and Louise Schneider Gasink in New Ulm, Minn. She was a graduate of Holy Trinity Catholic High School, New Ulm, Minn., and continued her education at a business college in New Ulm. She had been employed locally at Johnson Hills and Memorial Hospital. On Nov. 5, 1940, she married Leo Kochan in New Ulm, Minn. He preceded her in death April 11, 1964. Loretta was a member of Holy Innocents Catholic Church and previously a long time member of St. Anne's Catholic Church, Francis Creek.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law: James and Joyce Kochan, Mequon; Thomas and Kathryn Kochan, Brookline, Mass.; three daughters and two sons-in-law: Mary and Martin Hoffman, Manitowoc; Sister Leonette Kochan, Tucson, Ariz.; Carol and Les Mangin, Green Bay; 17 grandchildren: Ann Knocke, Susan Kochan, Joan Schade, Jenny Marquez, Andrew Kochan, Sarah Kochan, Samuel Kochan, Jacob Kochan, Benjamin Kochan, Mark Hoffman, Randall Hoffman, Karen Mikalofsky, Katie Hoffman, Mary Beth Hynek, Lew Mangin, John Mangin and David Mangin; 13 great-grandchildren: Lisa and George Knocke; Tim, Sarah and Katherine Schade; Matthew Marquez; Rachel and Sam Hoffman; Nathan Hoffman; Erik Mikalofsky; Emma, Grace and Maggie Hynek. She was preceded in death by her husband: Leo Kochan in 1964; and one grandson: James Kochan.

Loretta was the last surviving member of her generation of the Kochan family.

Friends may call at Holy Innocents Catholic Church on Saturday (TODAY) from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to Santa Crus School, 29 West 22nd St., Tucson, AZ 85713.

The Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 628 N. Water St., Manitowoc, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
