ROMAN KOEPPEL
(1916 - 2006)

Roman G. Koeppel, age 89, formerly of 7326 Reifs Mills Road, Manitowoc, and currently a resident of St. Mary's Home, Manitowoc, died Thursday afternoon, Sept. 7, 2006, at St. Mary's Home.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2006, at the Reinhold & Pfeffer Family Funeral Home of Kellnersville. The Rev. Paul Paider will officiate with burial of his cremated remains to follow at St. Anne Cemetery, Francis Creek.

Roman was born on Sept. 27, 1916, in Manitowoc, son of the late Peter and Rose Brey Koeppel. He married the former Dorothy Helen Blimmel on Sept. 14, 1943, in the township of Kossuth. He was employed at Manitowoc Equipment Works, Mirro Aluminum, and Bahr Construction. He also farmed and was in partnership with Koeppel and Mayerl Catering. In his younger years, he played the clarinet with the Romy Gosz Band. Roman enjoyed dancing and listening to polka music, but his passion, which he shared for many years with his son, Pete, was horse pulling.

Survivors include his wife: Dorothy Koeppel, Manitowoc; three children: Peter Koeppel of rural Manitowoc and special friend Rose Haskins; Paulette (Lloyd) Falvey, Manitowoc; Patricia (Erwin) Spaude, Green Bay; four grandchildren: Kris (Jay) Hucek, Green Bay; Chad Koeppel of rural Manitowoc; Tony Falvey of Two Rivers and special friend Laura Kunstmann; Theresa Falvey of Manitowoc; three step-grandchildren: Kristin Petska Spaude of Reedsville and special friend Bob Abbet; Cindy (Lee) Hoeffner, of Manitowoc; Wendy (Jorge) Crespo, of Minnesota; two great-grandchildren: Connor Hucek, Destiny Falvey: three step-great-grandchildren: Wesley Schmidt, Halley Schmidt, Nathan Crespo; one sister: Mary Ann Lodl, of Manitowoc; one stepsister: Dorothy Blimmel of Manitowoc; one half brother: Lester Shimek of Manitowoc: nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. Roman was preceded in death by one sister: Helen Timm; two stepbrothers: Hugie Shimek, Eddie Shimek; one daughter-in-law: Doris Koeppel.

Relatives and friends may call at the Reinhold &Pfeffer Family Funeral Home of Kellnersville on Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m.

The family extends a special thank you St. Mary's Nursing Home, Dr. LaLiberte, and Aurora Medical Center for the compassionate care given to our father.
