Paul J. Kortens Sr., age 75, of 6535 County Trunk R, Two Rivers, died Monday evening, April 18, 1994, at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc.

Funeral services will be held at 9:45 a.m. at the Pfeffer Funeral Home Thursday, April 21, 1994 and 10:30 a.m. at St. Anne's Catholic Church, Francis Creek. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Theodore Hendricks with burial to follow in the St. Anne's Church Cemetery where graveside military rites will be accorded by the V.F.W. Otto Oas Post #659.

He was born September 3, 1918, in Rockwood, Wis., son of the late Albert and Rose Braun Kortens. He was a graduate of Two Rivers, Washington High School, class of 1936, and then served as a veteran of World War II with the United States Army Air Corps serving in the Pacific Theatre from 1940 to 1945. He married the former Angeline Shimek June 15, 1942, in Eagle Pass, Texas. Mr. Kortens farmed his entire life in the township of Kossuth, where he served on the board of directors for the Rockwood Volunteer Fire Department for many years. Mrs. Kortens was an avid sportsman who loved hunting and fishing.

Survivors include his wife, Angeline Kortens, Two Rivers; four sons and two daughters-in-law, Paul J. Kortens, Jr., Blackcreek, Wis., Michael and Judi Kortens, Rockwood, Stephen and Dine Kortens, Whitelaw, Tim Kortens, Rockwood; one daughter, Tina Waack, Reedsville; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Elinor and Harold Wiesner, Manitowoc, Gladys Van Alstine, Winona, Minn., Ruth and Gordan Jansen, Manitowoc; 11 grandchildren; three great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by a brother, Edward and a sister, Grace.

Friend may call at the Pfeffer Funeral Home Wednesday evening from 4-8 p.m. where a prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. led b the Rev. Theodore Hendricks.
