PLUNGES DOWN STAIRS; KILLED
BURSTS A BLOOD VESSEL
John Leiterman Sr., aged 61 years, a blacksmith at Rockwell for the past forty years, fell headlong down the stairs last night, at 11 o'clock at this home there and burst a blood vessel in his head which resulted in his death this morning at 5 o'clock. Mrs. Jac. Stueber of this city is a daughter.
Mr. Leiterman was suffering from a toothache. He was unable to sleep and the longer he remained in bed the worse the ache became. He arose at about 11 o'clock to go downstairs in the hope of finding something in the pantry which would relieve the pain. At the top of the stairs he in some manner tripped and plunged headlong to the bottom.
The fall attracted the attention of his family who found him lying in an unconscious condition. He was placed in bed and the nearest physician summoned. However, there was no hope held out for his recovery. He passed away at 5 this morning.
Mr. Leiterman had been a resident of Manitowoc county for practically all his life, having come to this county when a boy. He was a resident and blacksmith of the village of Rockwell for the past forty years and was a man high standing in the community.
He is survived by his widow, two daughters, Mrs. Jacob Steubing of this city and Mrs. Frank Seidel of Francis Creek and three sons, George of Rockwell and Charles and John J. of Francis Creek.
The funeral will be held Saturday morning at St. Ann's church at Francis Creek at 9 o'clock, interment being in the cemetery there. –
