Robert E. Lorenz, age 48, of 3481 Westowne Court, Appleton, died unexpectedly Wednesday, November 27, 1996, at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Appleton.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 30, 1996, at St. Anne Catholic Church, Francis Creek. Rev. Ted Hendricks will officiate with burial to follow at St. Anne Cemetery.

He was born April 21, 1948, in Manitowoc, son of Elmer and Marion Decker Lorenz. He grew up in the Francis Creek area and graduated from Mishicot High School with the class of 1966. He was employed with the Iron Workers for many years and currently employed as a business agent of Local #8 Iron Workers of Appleton. He was an advisor to the Iron Workers Apprenticeship Committee of Local #8. Robert was a Vietnam Veteran serving in Vietnam from 1970-1972. He was wounded in action and received two Purple Hearts, a Bronze Star and the Congressional Medal of Honor. He was a member of the Vietnam Veterans Chapter #731 of Manitowoc and a member of the Disabled American Veterans. He did volunteer work with the Red Cross of Appleton and the Children's Museum of Appleton. Robert enjoyed his children, was an avid deer hunter and a great outdoorsman.

Survivors include two sons, Tanner Lorenz, Francis Creek, Thomas Lorenz, Kaukauna; one daughter, Kristi Lorenz, Kaukauna; five brothers and four sisters-in-law, Rick and Denice Lorenz, Greenville, Wis., Pat and Joan Lorenz, rural Two Rivers, Jerry and Rhonda Lorenz, Manitowoc, Mark and Lori Lorenz, Manitowoc, Steve Lorenz, Manitowoc; one sister, Judy Leiker and her fiancée, Bill Engelbrecht, both of Manitowoc. Also surviving are nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by one brother, Joseph, and his grandparents.

Relatives and friends may call at Reinbold & Pfeffer Family Funeral Home, Kellnersville from 4-8 p.m. this Friday (TONIGHT) and Saturday at church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at 10:30 a.m. There will be a parish prayer service at 7:30p.m. this evening said by Rev. Donald Schneider.
Memorials would be appreciated to the Robert Lorenz Educational Fund.
