Mr. Edward J. "Eddie" Menchal, age 89, of 329 S. Packer Dr. Manitowoc (Village of Francis Creek), died Monday afternoon April 3, 2000, at Two Rivers Community Hospital.
Funeral Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, April 6, 2000, at St. Anne Catholic Church, Francis Creek. Rev. Theodore Hendricks and Msgr. Alfred Schneider will concelebrate the Mass of Christian Burial, with burial in the parish cemetery.
Mr. Menchal was born April 25, 1910, in the town of Franklin, son of the late Joseph and Mary Sauer Menchal. Ed attended Lincoln High School in Manitowoc. On November 23, 1939, Eddie was married to the former Ivy M. Hessel, at St. Anne Catholic Church, in Francis Creek. Early in his working career, Eddie worked in Manitowoc at the Kingsbury Brewery. For most of his working career Eddie was self employed as an electrician retiring in 1982. Eddie was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church and was an usher. Charter member of the Francis Creek Lions Club and in the past served as president, Manitowoc County, Sheriffs Assoc, and the Manitowoc County Oldtimers Baseball Assoc.
Survivors include his wife, Ivy, Francis Creek; two daughters and sons-in-law, Dawn (Daniel) Oswald, Kellnersville, Mary Jo (David) Lindemann, Manitowoc eight grandchildren, Doug (Sue) Oswald, Dean (Stacie) Oswald, Deanna Oswald and her fiancée, Don Weger, Darrin Oswald, Dana (Mike) Tesarik, Deidra Oswald, Megan and Jacob Lindemann; six great grandchildren, Beth and Nick Oswald, Brett and Devon Oswald, Kyle and Kora Tesarik; two sisters, Catherine L. Rebechek, Manitowoc, Mary Jane Swoboda, Reedsville; one aunt, Elizabeth Kopidlansky, Manitowoc; two sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law, Mildred Menchal, Two Rivers, Norbert (LaVerne) Ewen, Francis Creek and Sylvan Hessel, Francis Creek. Eddie's Golden Retriever, Annie; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends survive. He was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Dixie Ann Oswald, one brother, Joseph Menchal; one sister, Viola Kohls; two brothers-in-law, Ellis (Lefty) Kohls and Raphael Rebechek; one sister-in-law, Marie Hessel.
Relatives and friends may call on Wednesday (TONIGHT) at the Reinbold & Pfeffer Family Funeral Home, Kellnersville, from 4-8 p.m. and on Thursday at St. Anne Catholic Church from 10 a.m. until the time of services. There will be a parish prayer service on Wednesday at 8:00 pm. led by Fr. Ted.
Eddie was always young at heart and forever a practical joker. He loved baseball, football and hunting and will be deeply missed by his family especially his grandchildren
