FATHER OF 14 DIES IN WRECK
CHAS. NEUSER IS DEAD AFTER AUTO ACCIDENT
Four Members of Family Injured When Car Wrecked Near Port Washington

Returning from a pilgrimage to the Catholic shrine at Holy Hill near Milwaukee yesterday afternoon at 1 o'clock, Charles Neuser, prominent town of Kossuth farmer and cheese factory owner, received injuries which caused his death and four other members of his family were injured when the car containing five of the family was struck as it was proceeding along State Truck Highway 60, about two miles west of Port Washington. Neuser was the father of 14 children and was a life-long resident of the county.

Two of the children, Edmund, 22, is a patient at the St. Joseph's hospital at Milwaukee suffering from injuries which may cause his death while a younger sister, Rita, is also at the hospital critically injured. Mrs. Neuser was badly bruised and today is suffering considerably from pain and the shock while still another son, Robert, is confined to his bed at the family home on Manitowoc Route 6 suffering with cuts about his face and body bruises. The latter two were brought home by a relative last night while the body of Mr. Neuser will arrive here this afternoon or evening.

Failed To Halt?
According to Robert Neuser, occupant of the front seat with his brother Edmund who was driving, the Neuser machine was struck at the intersection of County Trunk I and Highway 60 by Peter Thelen, 45, of Saukville whom it was claimed did not stop for the terial (sic). Thelen and his wife were only slightly injured.

The new sedan, purchased by Neuser only a month ago, was completely wrecked and almost cut in two, members of the family said this morning. They claimed that the Neuser car was being driven toward Manitowoc in a leisurely manner after they had partaken of the religious rites at the shrine.

All Thrown Clear
The five occupants of the Neuser car were thrown clear of the wrecked automobile, Mr. Neuser being picked up in a field before being rushed to Grafton and then to Port Washington where he died in a physician's office. The other four occupants of the car were also taken to Grafton, Edmund and Rita later being taken to the St. Joseph's hospital at Milwaukee while Mrs. Neuser and Robert returned home.

An investigation of the crash was underway today by authorities of Ozaukee county but it was not learned here whether an inquest would be held.

Life-Long County resident
Mr. Neuser was a life-long resident of the county being born at Reif's Mills on December 10, 1874, being 55 years of age at the time of his death. He resided on the family homestead for a number of years and in October 1897, was married to Miss Teresa Siebert who came with him to reside at the present farm about 29 years ago.

Beside his wife he is survived by fourteen children, Reinhart and Bernard at Milwaukee, Mrs. C. Michels, New York City; Oscar at Brillion; Mrs. Elmer Braun, Stanley; Mrs. Andrew Yost, Oshkosh, Charles, Chilton, Edmund, Walter, Robert, Herman, Alfred, Helen and Rita at home and 10 grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held from the family home on Manitowoc Route 6, at 9:30 o'clock and from the St. Ann's church at Francis Creek at 10 o'clock on Wednesday morning, Father Schiller officiating. Burial will take place at the church cemetery at Francis Creek.

Mr. Neuser had only recently given up the conduct of a cheese factory at Taus and returned to the family farm.
